Codona's Amusement Park partners with Charlie House to spread joy to families beyond Christmas

At Charlie House families are at the heart of everything we do. Our work is driven by a belief that children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions should have access to services and support here in the North East.

Sadly, for the families of the 1800 children across our region who currently live with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, that’s not the case. That’s why we are on a mission to build a dedicated facility in Aberdeen - so that families living in our region no longer need to travel more than a hundred miles to get the support to get vital support, respite, and care when they need it.

In our quest to reach our goal we work collaboratively with partners, funders, and supporters with similar values to ours in our local community. Together we seek new and innovative ways to secure the support needed to build the Charlie House facility.

In December last year, we were invited to be the charity partner of the Aberdeen based Curated in the Quad Christmas market in partnership with Aberdeen Inspired, Aberdeen City Council and Codona’s Amusement Park. Not only did we receive over £11,000 to support our Big Build Appeal, but we were able to expand our conversations with like-minded Aberdeen businesses involved in the initiative who were keen to further support our work.

Much like Charlie House, Codona's Amusement Park in Aberdeen prides itself on creating a special place where families can make precious and happy memories together. After the challenges brought by Storm Arwen during the Christmas period, the Codona’s team were keen to make sure Charlie House and the families we support didn’t miss out on vital funds. True to their word, they generously donated an additional £2,500 to help spread joy beyond Christmas to the families we support.

Accepting the donation last week, Charlie House Retail Manager Darren Lynch said: “We are so grateful to have received further support from Codona’s. Initiatives like the Christmas market make a huge difference to the experiences and activities we can offer through our services.”

“We welcome support from businesses large and small, and having the support of a well-known family business like Codona’s is truly incredible for us and the families we support.” he said.

Managing Director of Codona’s, John Codona spoke of their donation saying: “It was great to work with the Charlie House team at Curated in the Quad last year. Our family run business serves the North-East community and has similar values to the charity – who do a fantastic job supporting local families. We really wanted to support them with their ongoing fundraising.”

Family values are at the heart of the people of the North-East - showcased through this amazing gesture from a family-run business to a charity that is firmly focused on helping children with life-limiting conditions to live life to the full and make memories for their whole family to treasure.
