We were delighted to welcome Karen Lovie from CNOOC to HQ, where she saw first-hand resources and equipment our support workers use on a daily basis, including perennial favourite 'Worry Monster' who relieves little people of big worries. Support worker Fiona was on hand to explain more about her role and the difference she makes to the lives of the families we work with.
Emotional and wellbeing support is a big part of what we do here at Charlie House.
Our support workers deliver 1-2-1 sessions for supported children, siblings or as a family group. These sessions are person centred, tailored to each individual dependent on age, ability and needs. Sessions can be delivered at home, school, hospital or other appropriate venues where the family feel comfortable and at a time that is convenient for them. In addition to the 1-2-1 and family support sessions, we have also introduced ‘walk & talks’ and complimentary therapies which have proven beneficial.

Support can take place over any length of time required - our team understands each family’s needs and recognise this can fluctuate depending on their circumstances. Sessions provide families with a safe space to explore their feelings and equip them with the tools and mechanisms which can help them cope with their challenging circumstances.
Thanks to CNOOC’s generous donation of £25,000, we can respond to increasing demand for such support which can help families improve their mental health, wellbeing and resilience, maintain positive relationships, develop peer support networks and enhance their quality of life.

Fiona said: "The funding from CNOOC enables us to create safe spaces for siblings and parent carers to share and talk through their emotions. Recently, we have created a bereavement group where attendees can openly express how they feel and hear from others in a similar situation. Openly sharing can help navigate the stages of grief and those we support know they are not alone."
A huge thank you CNOOC for their generosity in helping local families thrive.
