The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen, in partnership with Charlie House, presents Curated on the Quayside—an exciting outdoor market spanning the Port of Aberdeen during The Tall Ships Races 2025.

With the proven success of Curated Local Makers Market at Bon Accord and Curated in the Quad Christmas Market at Marischal College over the past four years, Charlie House brings trusted expertise in supporting local businesses, makers, and charities.

Curated on the Quayside will feature 60 stalls around the Quayside of the Port of Aberdeen. Traders will participate all four days, while charities will join us for one day each.

Priority will be given to local businesses and organisations, including nautical organisations, who reflect the event’s strong connection to Aberdeen’s maritime heritage.

Applications close at 17:00 on Friday, 28 March, with successful applicants notified the week of 21 April 2025.

Commercial £500 ex VAT for 4 Days

Charity (Maximum of 1 day per charity) £100 ex VAT

Additional costs apply for power, Wi-Fi and extra tables and chairs if required. Please refer to the Curated on the Quayside terms and conditions document for a full cost breakdown.

Stallholder fees for Curated on the Quayside will go directly to The Tall Ships Races event organisers to offset their costs for the infrastructure required. Charlie House will receive a separate fee from event organisers for overseeing this application process.

Shortlisted applicants will be notified during the week beginning Monday 21 April 2025.

You will receive an email confirming acceptance as a trader or charity at the event and if you accept you will be invoiced by Aberdeen City Council for the stall fee and any additional requirements. Failure to make payment on time may result in your space being allocated to someone else from the waiting list. All payments must be received before the event. Anyone who has not paid in advance will not be granted access to the site.

No refunds will be given to traders once a space has been confirmed and invoice sent. If Aberdeen City Council cancels the event, then there will be a 100% refund given back to the trader/charity.

Yes, traders will be required to trade an all four days of the event. There is no daily rate for commercial traders, so you need to commit for the duration of the event. Charities will only be allowed to attend one of the event days in order to ensure that we can maximise the opportunities for charities.

The trade and charity stalls will be open to the public on Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 09:00-20:00 and on Tuesday from 09:00-15:30. Trade and Charity Stalls are required to be open to the public during these times.

Food or drink for on-site consumption (including ice cream, fudge, alcohol) is strictly prohibited. Food or drink packaged and sold with the intent of it being taken off-site is allowed. Applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis to ensure there is no conflict with other agreements.

Traders will be required to set up their stall on Friday 18 July, the set up times will be staggered throughout the day and time slots given to successful applicants. Charities will be required to set up between 05:00-07:00 daily and take down their stall on Saturday, Sunday and Monday between 20:30-22:30 and Tuesday between 16:00-18:00.

Access instructions will be sent in advance, once stalls have been allocated.

We expect all traders to remain set up and stock secured within their allocated marquee for the duration of the event. The Tall Ships organisers will arrange for overnight security and CCTV throughout the quayside for the duration of the event. The quayside will not be accessible to the public overnight with only the ship crews and stewarding staff remaining on-site. It will be each stallholder’s responsibility to close the front of their stall each evening.

Restocking for traders will be allowed during the times indicated below. All vehicles must be off site by the vehicle curfew times.

In order to organise Curated on the Quayside, Charlie House will be required to share applicants’ details with the Tall Ships Organisers, site managers, and Aberdeen City Council including their Licensing and Environmental Health departments.

Your pitch fee will include a covered 3x3m marquee structure, 2 chairs and a table. Waste facilities will also be provided for traders and charities. Power, WI-FI and additional tables and chairs can be provided for an extra cost.

There is no parking available on-site and all vehicles must be removed before the vehicle curfew.

Each trader will be provided with one parking pass for the Wellington Street greenfield car park, valid for the entire four-day event. The pass must be clearly displayed at all times while using the car park.

Each stallholder will be given 4 event accreditation passes, allowing them to come and go through the staff entrance gates. Additional staff arriving by car must make their own parking arrangements as only 1 parking places per stallholder will be available at Wellington Street. Additional passes are available on request and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Power is not supplied, but is available at an extra charge of £250 ex VAT for a double socket with a maximum load capacity of 7 amps. Request for power should be made with your application.

The following items are prohibited from sale at Curated on the Quayside.

Food or drink for on-site consumption (including ice cream, fudge, alcohol), not to be confused with off-site consumption (Food or drink packaged and sold with the intent of it being taken and consumed off-site).

There may be additional restrictions, and applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Tombolas and other smaller-scale games of chance or skill are permitted. However, organised lotteries or raffles must be accompanied by a valid gambling license.

Amplified music and PA systems are not permitted within the event.
