Scottish actor Jordan Young, best known for his roles in River City, Scot Squad and his forthcoming annual panto character at His Majesty’s Theatre, has become a celebrity ambassador for local children’s charity Charlie House.
Jordan Young says, “I was delighted to be approached by Charlie House to become their first celebrity ambassador. After learning of the fantastic work they carry out in the North-east for babies, children, young people and their families, I couldn’t help but become involved and after hearing about the amazing plans for the new specialist support centre and the Big Build Appeal, I wanted to show my support.”
Jordan continues, “I love my time in Aberdeen every winter in my panto role and have got to know the city well. The construction of the specialist support centre in the city for families to have access to services on their doorstep will be life-changing for people in the North-east of Scotland. Aberdeen should be very proud to have this building.”
Tracy Johnstone, Chair of Charlie House, says, “We welcome Jordan as our first celebrity ambassador and look forward to working with him. His public profile really helps us get the message out across the North-east of Scotland about our current services and also about our specialist support centre progress. Jordan is a familiar face in the city not only through his TV series’ but also as his panto character he brings to life in Aberdeen every winter. He has a wonderful way with people and children and always brings fun wherever he goes, which is very important to the families we support.”
Charlie House specialist support centre will be built on the grounds of Woodend Hospital in Aberdeen and will be an 8-bedroom centre, with additional family accommodation, set in 4 acres of ground. The state-of-the-art building will feature a sensory room, library, spa pool, craft room, teen den, soft play area, therapy room, star room, for end-of-life care & bereavement, outdoor play area and sensory gardens as well as adaptable meeting space and office space for the Charlie House team and medical staff.
